Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Positive Behaviour Support is a new initiative to Sheoak Grove Primary School. It focuses on creating a positive school culture and implementing a whole school behaviour matrix with a consistent approach to behaviour and expectations.

Our PBS Team consists of Sandi Nicolai (Leader), Kristy Nash (Coach), Mel Scarfe, Jill Doyle and Rosie Paine.

Our purpose as the PBS team is to establish and implement a whole school framework that is shared by our school community which embeds a common understanding and set of behaviours to impact children’s academic and social outcomes.

To help us to Shine, Grow and Connect at Sheoak Grove we have the following expectations:

Respect - Responsibility – Resilience – Reach

These expectations have been chosen to promote and guide the behaviour of everyone in our school: staff, students, parents and community members. This is achieved by developing proactive systems to define, teach and support appropriate student behaviour. At Sheoak Grove we strive to be respectful, responsible, resilient and reach to be the best we can be.

In consultation with all staff we have developed a Behaviour Matrix which outlines the expected behaviour of students at Sheoak Grove in all school settings. It creates a common language between staff and students. In addition, it informs the planning and teaching of expected behaviours and assists staff in recognising, acknowledging and providing feedback of student behaviour. The Matrix can be found here.
